New and improved Pro Tour Chicago Invitation Sideboard Staff Pro Tour Point invitations to future Pro Tours are now going to assigned using an improved "threshold" system. Instead of inviting the Top 50 players from the relevant Professional Standing, we are now going to invite everyone with more than X Pro Tour points. We are still working out the final details of this system, but the new plan will govern Pro Tour Chicago 2000 and the Pro Tour Chicago qualifier season that starts on Saturday, July 1, 2000. For purposes of invitations to Pro Tour Chicago, the Pro Point requirement will be 20. This means that any player with 20 or more Pro Points as of the World Championships 2000 Professional Standing will be invited to Pro Tour Chicago. The threshold will not remain at 20 points. It will certainly go up when we switch over to 7-event Professional Standings during the 2000-2001 season and it may go up sooner than that due to the increased number of Grand Prix being held worldwide. One important implication of the new policy is that anyone who has already accumulated 20 PT points or more toward the World Championships 2000 Professional Standing is now qualified for Pro Tour Chicago. If you are one of these players, you are not permitted to play in any Qualifier Tournaments for Pro Tour Chicago. If you already have 20 or more Pro Points and you play in a qualifier tournament, you will be in violation of paragraph 9.2 of the DCI Invitation Policy and will be subject to DCI investigation.
